So after the crazy HOY after effects had died down, the rest of March was quite a quiet month for team tech, with some training and hacking at home and then the realisation of a childhood dream... riding my horse on the beach!
Since the age of 10 I've had a dream of riding my own horse on the beach (who happened to be a pinto in my dream too - always been my favourite!). We've taken Tech to the beach a couple of times over the last few years and he's slowly but surely become more relaxed both on the ground and being ridden, so this trip we decided he was ready for me to get on!
After the girls had given him a bit of a workout and look around, it was time for me to get on. It's fair to say I had a massive mix of emotions going through my body - nerves, excitement, and hope: that he would behave and nothing crazy would happen to spook him! Luckily the setup of our local beach access is really good - I can park the float right next to the boat ramp and it's generally really quiet, so it was nice and easy to set up my mounting block off the back of the float so I could get on. Cue my supercrew! They worked like a well oiled machine getting me on and within a few minutes I was being led down the boat ramp and we were taking our first steps on the sand. WOW!!! I just couldn't stop smiling and saying "this is so cool!!" haha!
We rode up and down the beach, into the water and I even felt the water splashing up onto my boots! It was such an amazing feeling! At one point Bex turned us towards the water and went in a bit deeper, but without being able to focus on dry land I started feeling a bit sick oops! I also started to get a bit unbalanced too so we turned back towards the beach and all was well again. We stuck to riding along the water's edge after that - that's absolutely fine with me!
After a while I got the girls to hang back a little bit while still holding onto the lead rope, so I could take a bit more control and started having a little play. Soon we were doing travers along the edge of the water with Tech's front feet in the water and his back feet on the sand hehe!!
It was such an awesome ride. I think I must have said "this is so cool!!!" about a thousand times haha! Thanks so much to my amazing crew for once again making all of this possible. You guys rock!! <3
I absolutely LOVED riding on the beach and having a splash around in the water - it was such an amazing feeling and I totally can't wait to do it again!
